Side – Pamukkale excursion: Daily trip to Pamukkale from Side

The name Pamukkale comes from white lime terraces such as occur during the deposition of calcareous hot waters. With this feature, Pamukkale is a world-famous tourist destination. In addition to this feature of Pamukkale, the ruins of the city of Hierapolis, which is an important city of Antiquity, is a reason that increases its importance.

Pamukkale is 2700 meters long and 160 meters height With its bright white color, it is possible to see Pamukkale from 20 km.

About 285 km far from Side; Pamukkale is waiting for you.

Named the Cotton Fortress (pah-MOOK-kah-leh) in Turkish, it has been a spa since the Roman’s built the spa city of Hierapolis arround a sacred warm-water spring. TheAntique Pool is still there, littered with marble columns from the Roman Temple of Apollo. You can swim along the ruins in history.

Pamukkale is Turkey’s foremost mineral-bath spa because of its natural beauty: hot calcium-laden waters spring from the earth and cascade over a cliff. As they cool they form dramatic travertines of  hard, brilliantly white calcium that form pools.

17 different thermal waters of Pamukkale is giving pure nature health to the people for centuries. Famous Egyptian queen Cleopatra visited Hierapolis for her health and beauty as well. The 17 different thermal waters in Pamukkale are from 35c to 100c. In some parts the thermal water is colourful and makes the surface rainbow colour and some parts makes white like lime terraces.
